Reconstruction Services
After a Disaster
Structural Assessment
Our teams are trained to assess the damage to building structures and they employ state-of-the-art technology such as drones, 360° cameras, and infrared moisture mapping to deliver the most comprehensive post-damage assessment.
Structural loss is evaluated on 4 criteria:
- Destroyed: total loss, permanently uninhabitable
- Major: uninhabitable, extensive repairs required that will take more than 30 days to complete
- Minor: uninhabitable, repairs can be completed in less than 30 days
- Affected: no structural damage, habitable without repairs
Controlled Demolition
To prevent the migration of soot and odors and prevent adding to high humidity levels from wet building materials, controlled demolition is vital to a project’s success. Following the removal of destroyed, charred, and wet building materials, the erection of temporary barriers may be required. Mooring’s restoration and reconstruction groups will combine services to achieve rapid results for controlled demolition.
Commercial Excavation
Perhaps your company is going through a major development or expansion. Maybe an environmental cleanup is necessary. It’s also possible that your pipes and lines require extensive repair. Whatever the reason, you need commercial excavation services. This is not something most businesses have to deal with regularly so you may be wondering where to turn. Excavation services involve more than just moving dirt around. Careful planning and assessment is necessary up-front before any physical work begins. As we like to say – plan the work and then work the plan. The bottom line is that excavation work typically must be done quickly, efficiently, and safely – the Mooring way.
Debris Management
Mooring works closely with clients to facilitate and coordinate the management of debris following a disaster in order to mitigate against any potential threat to the lives, health, safety, and welfare of those impacted and to expedite recovery efforts in the area. In a major or catastrophic disaster, many state agencies and local governments will have difficulty in locating staff, equipment, and funds to devote to debris removal, in the short-term as well as long- term. Mooring is well positioned and experienced in assisting with debris removal and management because of natural or man-made disasters.
Debris Removal
Natural disasters can generate unprecedented amounts of debris in a few hours or a few minutes. The debris may be equally heavy in both urban and rural areas depending on the magnitude of the associated structural damage. Debris removal, regardless of source, becomes a high priority following a disaster. The Mooring debris management strategy is multi-phased for a largescale debris removal operation and consists of the clearance of the debris that hinders immediate lifesaving actions and is a threat to public health and safety. Ongoing phases consist of the removal and disposal of that debris which is determined necessary to ensure the orderly recovery of the community and to eliminate less immediate threats to public health and safety.
Commercial Reconstruction
For reconstruction, Mooring Commercial Construction delivers solutions for every component of general contracting, pre-construction, project management and engineering. From the scheduling, planning and procurement of the required resources including the most efficient supply of labor, equipment, materials and subcontractors, we handle it all – and all under one roof. Mooring Commercial Construction also delivers self-performed services including excavation, concrete and steel erection construction.

Document Recovery
All is not lost in a loss.
Mooring has set protocols for the recovery of damaged documents. Immediately, we want to create a state of preservation by boxing and freezing the affected materials on-location. Depending on the quantity of items, they are recovered on-site or transported to a secure facility for restoration. Services also include reproduction, copying, scanning, sanitizing, deodorizing, encapsulating and if needed, certified destruction.
When dealing with document recovery Mooring has been very successful in saving those documents that are considered valuable and restorable including vital records, personal files, medical records, files, books, and other media.
When documents become damp, wet, or are in contact with corrosive soot by-products, they can deteriorate quickly. Some of the methods used in document recovery include Air Drying, Desiccant Air Drying, Vacuum Thermal Drying, Freeze Drying, and Vacuum-Freeze Drying.
