Fire Damage Services

Fire Damage

When the fire stops – we’re just getting started.

Recovering from fire damage can often be complex due to soot and odor permeating the structure and water damage from fire suppression activities. While the actual fire may be contained to a small area, soot and odors are free floating and can spread throughout the structure often carried through ventilation systems. Depending on the materials burned, soot can also be highly corrosive to electronics and other contents.

Fire soot removal is complicated. Soot is made up of microscopic particles that are not only difficult to remove but require a proven and stringent removal process. Mooring Disaster Restoration uses commercial air scrubbers, HEPA vacuums, and ventilation systems to remove smoke and soot efficiently and professionally from your property.

Mooring Disaster Restoration has a thorough fire damage smoke odor removal process. Our technicians are trained and hold IICRC Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration Technician certifications.

FEATURED PROJECT: Non-Profit

Ocker Brethren Church

When Mooring was brought on to restore this Central Texas church’s historic sanctuary after a devastating fire, the irreplaceable stained-glass windows were a priority.

FIRE DAMAGE
RESTORATION APPROACH

Determining the extent of the structural damage is paramount to ensure everyone’s safety. Our professional Disaster Restoration team will ensure shoring measures are put in place when warranted to guarantee the structural integrity of the property while the fire damage clean-up takes place.

Mooring enacts established protocols to:

  • Stabilize the environment
  • Test soot residue to determine if there are corrosive by-products
  • Decontaminate and restore the structure, HVAC system, and contents
  • Dehumidify and dry the structure and contents
  • Remove odor
  • Apply specialized techniques for recovering electronics, documents, media, and telecommunications systems.

Once a structure is secured and the water is removed, mitigating the damage is the next step. This involves ensuring your property is properly dried and sanitized, minimizing the devastation caused by the water as much as possible.

  • Removing any detritus, damaged belongings, and ruined building materials such as flooring, and drywall is followed by disinfecting the property.
  • Any personal items that are salvageable are cleaned through our content restoration services and returned.
  • Mooring Disaster Restoration IICRC certified technicians then use industrial highpowered air movers and dehumidifiers to dry the affected space.
  • At this point the property is ready for the reconstruction phase.

Document Recovery

All is not lost in a loss.

Mooring has set protocols for the recovery of damaged documents. Immediately, we want to create a state of preservation by boxing and freezing the affected materials on-location. Depending on the quantity of items, they are recovered on-site or transported to a secure facility for restoration. Services also include reproduction, copying, scanning, sanitizing, deodorizing, encapsulating and if needed, certified destruction.

When dealing with document recovery Mooring has been very successful in saving those documents that are considered valuable and restorable including vital records, personal files, medical records, files, books, and other media.

When documents become damp, wet, or are in contact with corrosive soot by-products, they can deteriorate quickly. Some of the methods used in document recovery include Air Drying, Desiccant Air Drying, Vacuum Thermal Drying, Freeze Drying, and Vacuum-Freeze Drying.
