RESTORATION APPROACH

Asbestos Abatement means any measure or set of measures designed to permanently eliminate asbestos hazards. Abatement can include the permanent removal of building materials (or the coatings of) with a penetrating encapsulate which seals the product. Mooring follows all state and federal guidelines for asbestos abatement and holds a TDSHS Asbestos Abatement Contractor license and a TDSHS Asbestos Transporter license.

Lead Abatement means any measure or set of measures designed to permanently eliminate lead-based paint hazards. Lead abatement can include removal of leadbased paint and dust, the permanent enclosure or encapsulation of lead-based paint, or the replacement of lead-painted surfaces or fixtures.

Beginning 2010, federal law required that all restoration companies be certified, and that individuals be trained in lead-safe work practices. Mooring Disaster Restoration is a registered TDSHS Lead Firm and holds an EPA Lead Renovator Certification (RRPCertified Firm).

Mooring uses engineering methods to eliminate, correct, or control existing and potential hazards. We work to eliminate the hazard if possible or if eliminating the hazard is not feasible – we employ standard safety protocols.

  • Establish safe work procedures which are understandable and can be followed by employees.
  • Properly train all employees.
  • Correct unsafe performances.
  • Provide proper personal protective equipment.
  • Train employees in proper use of equipment.
  • Establish definitive administrative controls.
  • Establish a plan for proper facility and equipment maintenance.

Document Recovery

All is not lost in a loss.

Mooring has set protocols for the recovery of damaged documents. Immediately, we want to create a state of preservation by boxing and freezing the affected materials on-location. Depending on the quantity of items, they are recovered on-site or transported to a secure facility for restoration. Services also include reproduction, copying, scanning, sanitizing, deodorizing, encapsulating and if needed, certified destruction.

When dealing with document recovery Mooring has been very successful in saving those documents that are considered valuable and restorable including vital records, personal files, medical records, files, books, and other media.

When documents become damp, wet, or are in contact with corrosive soot by-products, they can deteriorate quickly. Some of the methods used in document recovery include Air Drying, Desiccant Air Drying, Vacuum Thermal Drying, Freeze Drying, and Vacuum-Freeze Drying.
